This page explains what RanchHand collects, why, and who else handles it.
What we collect
What you give us: your name, phone, email, county or town, how you like to be reached, your answers on our forms, and anything you write or post. Passwords are stored encrypted, so we can't read them.
When you agree to be contacted, we keep a record of that consent: the wording you accepted, the date, your IP address and your browser.
What comes with your visit: the ad or link that brought you, the pages you view, your language and the area you search in.
How we use it
We use your information to answer your request, match you with ranch work, people, livestock or land, run your account, and send the alerts you asked for.
We also use it to understand which ads and pages work, and to test changes to our site, such as different versions of a form.
Who sees it
We never sell your information. Only the RanchHand team sees the contact details on our forms. What you choose to publish, like a post, a listing or a profile, is visible to other people on the site.
Some companies help run the site and handle limited data as part of that: Cloudflare (security and delivery), Google Analytics (visit statistics), and the services that load our fonts, photos, maps and scripts (Google Fonts, Unsplash, OpenStreetMap, jsDelivr, cdnjs). These see technical data such as your IP address. Your name, phone and email are not sent to Google Analytics.
We may share information if the law requires it.
Cookies
We use cookies to keep you logged in, remember your language and location, and keep showing you the same version of a form for 30 days. Google Analytics sets its own cookies to count visits.
You can block cookies in your browser, or stop Google Analytics with Google's opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Calls, texts and emails
We only call or text you about your request if you agreed to it. Reply STOP to any text to stop them, or HELP for help. Every email alert has an unsubscribe link.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete your information. We keep it while your account or request is active, and for as long as we need it to meet legal obligations, including our record of your consent.
RanchHand isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
